AFL Indonesia is taking an important but costly step in the development of Aussie Rules Football (AFL) in Indonesia. In August this year it will send its first ever Indonesian National team to the 2014 AFL International Cup (IC14) in Melbourne. This is not a team for expats – we are talking a team comprising 100% of Indonesian citizens, how good is that!

AFL International Development Manager Tony Woods said the aim was to make IC14 the biggest International Cup to date.

Indonesia’s three ‘Australian Football' clubs, the ANZ Jakarta Bintangs, Bali Geckos and Borneo Bears, all established by influential Australian expatriates since 1995, have joined the new eastern Asian representative body, AFL Asia.
